A new tune for farmers’ markets
We have reached an agreement with ASCAP, an organization that licenses music compositions for public performance, for a concert license that requires us to offer tickets for sale each time we offer music.
No doubt this situation will strike customers as odd. Yet it was the only way we could afford to retain live music at our farmers’ markets.
Each performance must be publicized online with an offer of tickets that entitle any buyers to a folding chair. No one will be prevented from listening for free.
Proceeds will go to our SNAP Match* program. Although this not our main funding strategy, SNAP Match is something we want to support in all ways possible.
*SNAP Match provides additional tokens for Oregon Trail cardholders up to $10 a market day. It helps families stretch their food budgets to afford healthier fresh and local foods.
