Double Up Food Bucks is doing great things in our communities. We now can use them for nuts plus seeds and plants that produce food!
In addition to Corvallis and Albany, other area farmers’ markets in the program are in Sweet Home, Lebanon and Eugene.
Food Day is Oct. 21 at the Corvallis Farmers’ Market. Details are pending, but we’ll do the Community Apple Crunch and have a cooking demo.
Let’s make dinner!
We’re a nation awash with cooking shows, but many adults are afraid of cooking. It’s time to transcend the theatrics of cooking shows to the basics of fresh, local food.
We can teach our children (and ourselves) that almost anything fresh and local will taste great if you just chop it up, add a bit of salt and olive oil and stir fry it.
Simple cooking requires sound and clean cutting boards, sharp knives and a few key pots and pans. Make sure the people in your life have access to good tools and your encouragement.
