Albany Market Moves

Opens April 18 at Water & Ferry

Established in 1978, Albany Farmers’ Market is the longest continuously operating open air farmers’ market in Oregon. It's an Albany tradition!

On April 18, the Albany Farmers’ Market moves back to where it started in 1978 and operated through 2006.

Hours remain 9 am to 1 pm. Our new address is Water & Ferry.

The Albany Farmers’ Market is the longest continuously operating open air farmers’ market in Oregon. Unlike our well-traveled Corvallis markets, this market has operated at just two locations, which are just four blocks apart.

Much has changed since 2007, when the market moved from the waterfront parking lot to the City Hall parking lot and the adjacent part of 4th Ave.

Water Ave is now a brick paved “street plaza” with electrical outlets for event use.

We will close the street plaza between Ferry and Broadalbin and use our old parking lot between the Avery Mill Building and the Riverfront Community Center. The Albany Artisans Faire, a separate entity, will occupy the street plaza west of Ferry.

Monteith Park has been renovated, including new restrooms and a splash pad.

The Albany Historic Carousel and Museum was completed in 2017 to house a 1909 Denzel mechanism and fitted with wondrous creatures carved with love and Albany magic.

The farmers’ market also has grown and developed since leaving the waterfront. We now have fresh fish, more meat and poultry, restaurants and seating,

When the market moved to City Hall, it did not yet offer SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks or debit/credit. The Power of Produce Club (PoP) had not been invented yet. And we didn’t have nearly so many community partners seeking guest booths.

The rails are no longer active on Saturday, so vendors likely won’t be able to re-enact the ritual of tossing cinnamon rolls and produce into the engine window. But the Avery Mill building remains as a historic backdrop whose outlines are often adorned with mist from the nearby Willamette River. The Dave Clark Trail, named for a former parks director, leads to a river overlook.
It’s an Albany tradition–come make history with us!
